Atty. Sylvester earned his bachelor’s (BA) and master’s (MA) degrees from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Hamline University School of Law – Minnesota . 

Prior to forming Sylvester Law Firm , Atty. Sylvester served as an attorney at law firms in Illinois and Wisconsin.  He also served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Jeffrey D. Thompson of Minnesota’s Third Judicial District, where he worked side-by-side with Judge Thompson on numerous divorce and child custody cases.  Preceding the study and practice of law, Atty. Sylvester was an educator, having taught economics, political science and history at a college preparatory academy in Arizona.

As a multi-state divorce and family law attorney, Atty. Sylvester represents men and women in northern Illinois (including Cook, Lake and DuPage Counties) , Wisconsin , and Florida . 

Atty. Sylvester has taken and passed Bar Exams on the first try in Illinois , Wisconsin , Minnesota and Florida , and is currently licensed to practice law in each of those states.  

Atty. Sylvester is an active member of the Illinois Bar Association , the Chicago Bar Association , the Florida Bar Association , and the Wisconsin Bar Association .

Atty. Sylvester teaches other lawyers through his publications for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.  He has also published an article in the Journal of Taxation of Investments.

When not practicing law, Atty. Sylvester likes to play golf, read books, run and walk, watch movies, and spend time with his nephew (Kyle) and nieces (Tori and Annie).
